RCM – MIRPS Session / Presentation of the “Regional Model Instrument for the Identification of Vulnerabilities and Needs of People in Mobility Contexts at Borders”.

28 April, 2025

As part of the efforts of the Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework (MIRPS) to strengthen joint work with other regional mechanisms, the document titled Regional Model Instrument for the Identification of Vulnerabilities and Needs of People in Mobility Contexts at Borders was presented. This instrument, developed under the leadership of the Regional Conference on Migration (RCM) and the RROCM, acknowledges that the work carried out by governments in coordination with civil society organizations at border areas is essential to timely identify specific vulnerabilities and to provide adequate and appropriate responses.

Given the complexity and ever-changing nature of human mobility dynamics in the region, MIRPS underscores the need for coordinated, complementary, and articulated action among different regional processes. In this context, collaboration with the RCM represents a significant step forward in building stronger protection systems where the rights of migrants, refugees, and displaced persons are upheld from the very first point of contact.

The synergy between MIRPS and the RCM demonstrates that the implementation of regional instruments is not only an urgent necessity in response to current humanitarian challenges, but also a reflection of clear political will, effective cooperation, and a strong commitment to the principles that guide MIRPS. Ensuring that all individuals at risk can access services upon arrival is a shared priority and an achievable goal through initiatives such as this.
