Child-friendly procedures
April – August 2024
Refugee and asylum-seeking children have the right to both international protection and specific rights as children; these two sets of rights are complementary and mutually reinforcing.
As such, MIRPS States are working on the adaptation of their refugee status determination procedures to children’s rights, considering their diverse experiences, backgrounds, and specific vulnerabilities and capacities.
In 2024, a series of sessions are organized with MIRPS teams, to provide practical guidance on the implementation of child-friendly and age- and gender-appropriate protection procedures. By the end of the year, MIRPS states will present a document on recommendations, which will guide its systematic implementation at national levels.
