MIRPS in El Salvador
El Salvador is highly committed to addressing the situation of forced displacement. Since joining the MIRPS in July 2019, the country has made progress in the implementation of several commitments of its National Action Plan, particularly related to protection. However, the support of the international community in the areas of education, healthcare, jobs and livelihoods is required to address the needs of the thousands of people seeking protection and solutions in the country.

Approval of the special law for the comprehensive attention of internally displaced persons in January 2020
A regulatory framework and operational protocol are being developed, as well as an outreach plan with the institutions and organizations involved in its enforcement.
Strengthening of the Commission for the Determination of Refugee Status in El Salvador (CODER)
Through hiring and training of legal technicians to speed up response times for asylum applications. Additionally, in coordination with the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners (DGME), has carried out visits and information sessions on the asylum process in El Salvador at the border points and at the international airport.
Increased protection of children, adolescents, and teachers in a condition of forced displacement or at risk
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has developed and is currently promoting a new care guide for children, adolescents, and teachers who have been forcibly displaced or at risk of being displaced, in addition to workshops for the use of information systems to assess school dropout rates due to forced internal displacement.
