The rapid advancement of technological tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) applications, presents an opportunity to strengthen asylum procedures and enhance the efficiency, consistency, and fairness of refugee status determination processes, provided that such technologies are used responsibly and ethically, in accordance with human rights standards and due process principles. In this context, the issue of AI governance also becomes increasingly relevant, referring to the set of rules, policies, and processes that ensure artificial intelligence is deployed in an ethical, safe, and accountable manner.<\/p>\n

This event fostered a discussion on how to ensure that the benefits of artificial intelligence in asylum procedures can be realized without compromising the rights and dignity of individuals seeking international protection.<\/p>\n
